Juan R. Acevedo-Cruz

is an experienced attorney, with extensive trial experience during the past forty years in both Federal and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Courts.

Mr. Acevedo-Cruz has represented corporate, government and banking officers, directors, employees and private individuals in trials, Federal Grand Jury investigations, investigations by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico’s Department of Justice and the Office of the Independent Prosecutor. Mr. Acevedo-Cruz has successfully defended individuals in murder, narcotics, conspiracy, bank robbery, money laundering and white collar cases in Federal and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico courts.

A founding member and former Vice-President of the Puerto Rico Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a member of the Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico, Attorney Acevedo-Cruz is actively engaged in the legal community.

Mr. Acevedo-Cruz has offered the Federal Criminal Procedure section of the Federal Bar Association Bar Review course. As an Adjunct Professor, he gave an Advanced Seminar in Criminal Law and taught at the Federal Legal Clinic at the Interamerican University School of Law. Mr. Acevedo-Cruz has been invited to serve as judge at the prestigious Puerto Rico Trial Advocacy Competition and continues to mentor early career lawyers in Federal criminal practice.

In 1983 Mr. Acevedo-Cruz was awarded the Charles H. Revson Fellowship at the Center for Legal Education, City College, New York City and was also an Adjunct Professor at the John Jay College for Criminal Justice and at Lehman College, CUNY from 1983 to 1985.
